About the event
The Pineland fiddlers are an inspiring group of young artists whose ability and musicianship belie their years. Students of Ellen Gawler and the Augusta based Pineland Suzuki School, most of them began fiddling at the age of 3. Over the years, different iterations of the group have recorded 3 CD’s and traveled to Cape Breton, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Ireland, Shetland and Turkmenistan. They love busking in the street, playing for concerts, and providing lively jigs and reels for contra dances in the old dance halls of Maine.
Fern Dance Collective is created by Molly Gawler in collaboration with local Maine Folk Musicians. The show has heart centered creations of original choreography. Molly and the musicians are inspired by the spirals of ferns as a metaphor to find the flow of dance, circus arts, acrobatics, story and song.
